A delegation of more than one hundred young Italian priests, episcopal vicars and priests responsible for clergy formation, headed by Archbishop-metropolite of Milan Archdiocese Mario Delpini, has visited meeting devoted to the results of work of the “Pope for Ukraine” Action in Kyiv.
Guests were warmly greeted by the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, who also underlined a personal initiative of the Holy Father Francis in the fastest aid to the injured by war activities citizens of Ukraine.
The Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Action, bishop Eduard Kava, told guests about the overriding priorities and directions, which were financed within the framework of the Action.
According to his words, funds gathered by Catholics from Europe were targeted at the short-term projects of the prompt reaction, that is providing people with fuel, food products, “fast” money, sanitary products, medicines and products of medical purpose, warm clothes, etc., as well as long-term projects, the effect of which will last for years – reconstruction of houses, schools, hospitals, etc.
The meeting took place within the walls of the “Emmanuil” Mercy Association office, which is one of the executive partners of the Action and fulfilled the realization of the large-scale projects on winter preparations in the near-front line areas, medical assistance to the injured, supporting children and etc.
Let us remind you how two years ago Catholics of the European parishes responded appeal of the Pope to help the Ukrainians injured by war actions. As a result, there were around 16 billion euros collected. Believers of the Milan Archdiocese became one of the largest donators.
